Accessibility Statement
Commonware is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities.
Our Commitment
We believe that everyone should be able to shop with us comfortably and independently. We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
What We've Done
We have taken the following steps to ensure accessibility on our Site:
- Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy for screen reader navigation
- Descriptive alt text for all product images and visual content
- Sufficient color contrast ratios that meet WCAG 2.1 AA requirements
- Full keyboard navigation support across all interactive elements
- ARIA labels and roles for dynamic content, including the shopping cart, modals, and search
- Visible focus indicators for all interactive elements
- Responsive design that supports text resizing up to 200% without loss of content
- Form labels and error messages that are clearly associated with their inputs
- Skip-to-content links for keyboard users
- Captions and transcripts for any video or audio content
Ongoing Efforts
Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time project. We regularly:
- Conduct automated and manual accessibility audits of our Site
- Test with assistive technologies including screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver, JAWS)
- Train our development and content teams on accessibility best practices
- Include accessibility requirements in our design and development process
- Review and address accessibility feedback from our customers
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some areas of our Site may not yet be fully optimized. We are aware of and actively working to address the following:
- Some older product images may lack sufficiently descriptive alt text
- Third-party embedded content (such as social media feeds) may not meet all accessibility standards
- PDF documents (such as lookbooks) are being updated for screen reader compatibility
